Introduction

Non profit: The turban project is a non profit undertaking set up to help the Sikh community.

Turban Details

Colors & Sizes: Available in various styles, sixteen colors and eight sizes. Each size is half an inch more in diameter than the previous size. A special order may be placed for a size that falls between two sizes. It will be designated with a + sign. For example a size between 8 and 9 will be marked 8+.

Velcro Strip: A Velcro strip which is hidden behind the vertical back flap may also be adjusted to tighten the turban if necessary.

Turban Fabric Weight and Finish: The turbans have been engineered for high tenacity and reduced weight. The fabric used is finished with anti bacterial and cooling agents for moving moisture by capillary action.

Dyes: Dyed with Azo-free dyes with OEKOTEX 100 certification to guarantee that fabric is free from harmful substances.

Patkas and Face Masks:

  1. Patkas come in three sizes, S, M & L.
  2. The size of the Patka in each turban box will match the turban size.
  3. A pack of four special face masks is included for each order of one to three turbans.
  4. If the order is for four turbans or more, two packs of face masks will be included.
  5. These face masks are specially made for turban wearers. The elastic band goes around the turban instead of around the ears.

How to Order Turbans

Turban Trial Set Details

1. For an order of two or more turbans:

  • A Turban Trial Set of three to four turbans in different styles and sizes will be sent.
  • This is to confirm the required style and the required size.
  • A trial is the best way to ensure that what you are buying is the right style and the right size for yourself.
  • All trial turbans are in black color. However, you may order any available color from the “Color Chart” below.
  • From the trial turbans, please specify which is your preferred style.
  • The preferred style, however, may not be in the size that fits you.
  • One of the other turbans in the Trial Set (which are not in the preferred style) could be the right size for you.
  • We will need to know which turban is your preferred style and which turban is the right size for you. The style numbers and the sizes are printed on the tags attached to the trial turban bags.
  • The charge for the Turban Trial Set is Bht. 500.
  • This includes administrative and delivery charges to you and for bringing the trial turbans back.

2. No Turban Trial Set for a single turban order:

  • We don’t send a Turban Trial Set for a single turban order.
  • Instead, we will determine the turban size from the head measurement given and add half a size to ensure that the turban is not tight.
  • For a single turban order, we will determine the style from the information on the turban style that you provide.

Collecting the Turban Trial Set Back

If you are in Bangkok and the Turban Trial Set has been delivered to you by our messenger, he will retrieve it from you within about a week or when your ordered turbans are delivered.

The turban price is refundable if you decide after the trial that you are not interested in ordering the turbans. However, the transport/admin charge for the Turban Trial Set of Bht. 500 is not refundable.

If you are outside Bangkok, you will also need to send back the Turban Trial Set to Alfino International Co. Ltd. by courier (charges to be borne by you) after you have confirmed your preferred style and size.

Price and Payment Details

Turban Price

The revised price (based on the cost of the last 300 turbans produced, added office personnel and inclusive of VAT) is Bht.1,700 per turban. This includes:-

  1. One Turban
  2. Specially made zip box for turban
  3. One Patka
  4. A Special Face Mask for turban wearers
  5. A laundry bag (as a sample)
  6. A foam pillow to keep the turban in shape
  7. Delivery to you.

Price of Turban Trial Set

  1. A trial set of three to four turbans is sent for turban orders of two turbans or more.
  2. We don’t send trial turbans for a single turban order.
  3. The charge for the Turban Trial Set is Bht. 500
  4. This includes administrative and delivery charges to you and for bringing the trial turbans back.

Advance Payment

  1. We will need payment in advance for the ordered turbans and for the Turban Trial Set (if the order is for two turbans or more) before we send the Turban Trial Set.
  2. However, if you are dissatisfied with the styles in the Turban Trial set or other turbans we send to you for additional trials, all the money for the ordered turbans will be refunded.
  3. The Bht. 500 charge for the trial set is not refundable.

Frequently Asked Questions

How to Measure your Head

  1. A picture showing how the measurement should be done is given below.
  2. The head measurement will give us an indication of the turbans sizes to send to you in the Turban Trial Set (which will be sent only if the order is for two turbans or more).
  3. The head measurement does not give us an exact turban size. This is because some people prefer a tight turban and some prefer a looser turban. That is why a Turban Trial Set is sent to confirm the exact size required.
  4. For a single turban order, we will use the head measurement to determine the turban size and add half a size to make sure that the turban is not tight. A Turban Trial Set is not sent if the order is only for one turban.

MEASURING METHOD

Half Size Adjustments.

  1. In the Turban Trial Set, if you find one size too tight and the next size too loose, you can order a size halfway between the two.
  2. For example you can order Size 8.5 (which will be marked as 8+ in the tag in the turban you order) in case you find Size 8 slightly tight and Size 9 slightly loose.
  3. Additional slight size adjustment (about quarter to half a size) can be made by yourself by adjusting the Velcro which is hidden behind the flap at the back of the turban.
  4. The Velcro is intentionally hidden there so that it does not stick to the hair.
  5. It’s a little difficult to adjust because it’s behind the flap but it can be opened up and adjusted with a bit of effort.
  6. A picture of the Velcro placement is shown on “Turban Details”.

How to determine your Turban Style

Turban Style required can be informed in one of the following ways:-

  1. Alternative 1: Send a picture of yourself wearing a turban (and we will choose the closest styles for the Turban Trial Set). This is optional.
  2. Alternative 2: See the PDF of Turban Pictures and indicate the style that you prefer.
  3. Alternative 3: If you are unsure of which style you want to try out, you may just specify any of the following:-
    • small to medium turban style
    • medium to big turban style
    • small to big styles (the whole range)
  4. We don’t carry trial turbans in all styles but will send similar looking turbans to the one that you have indicated.

What if you have a Bigger Jura

  1. The trial turbans are made for a standard jura size, not for a big jura.
  2. Nevertheless they are perfectly alright to confirm size (head circumference) and style.
  3. If you can’t pull the turban down over your ears fully because you have a bigger jura, please send a side picture while wearing the turban that fits you.
  4. From the picture, we will be able to make out how much fabric to add to the top of the turban.
  5. We will make the adjustment in the turbans you order.

Turban Wash Care Instructions

The turbans may be hand washed or machine washed (if placed in a laundry bag first).

Hand Washing

  1. For a turban to last longer, hand wash.
  2. Take a basin of water and add a little bit of detergent.
  3. Soak the turban for a few minutes swishing it around without deforming the shape.
  4. Place the turban under running water to remove the detergent. Ensure that no detergent is left on the turban as it will leave white marks.
  5. When all the detergent has been washed away, squeeze the water out of each side of turban by using pressure from both hands without deforming the turban shape.
  6. Now the washed turban will be wet but not totally water-logged.

Drying Instructions

  1. Dry the turban in the sun.
  2. This should take the whole day.
  3. If it is raining, place the turban in a basket which has holes on top of the outside unit of an air-conditioner. The hot air from the compressor should dry out the turban within a few hours.
  4. When not being worn, insert the foam pillow (which was included in the original packing) in the turban to retain the shape.

Machine Washing

  1. When not convenient to hand wash the turban, use a washing machine.
  2. Experiments with a washing machine have not shown any problems
  3. The turban must be placed in a mesh laundry bag before placing it in the machine.
  4. A sample of the laundry bag is included with the turban. The bags are available in any super market.
  5. Use regular detergent and standard settings on the washing machine.
  6. For drying, don’t use the washing machine tumble dryer as the life of the turban may be affected. Follow the drying instructions above.

Turban Styles

Description

The best option is to send us a selfie and we will determine which of the following styles are closest to it.

Style numbers 16 to 19 are standard styles. They can be made in four variations per style so the total number of styles and variations are now 16. Currently there are sixteen colors available and 10 sizes per style.

Style numbers from Style 16 to Style 19 denote the number of steps. Style No. 16 has 4 steps, Style 17 has 5 steps, Style 18 has 6 steps and Style 19 has 7 steps.

When a style number is not followed by a letter, it means that the turban has a 2 inch last step width. Examples of this are Style 16, Style 17 etc.

If there is a letter “A” following the style number e.g. Style 16A and Style 17A, it means that the last step width is 2.5 inches instead of 2 inches.

If there is a letter “B” following the style number e.g. Style 16B and Style 17B, it means that the last step width is 3 inches instead of 2 inches.

If there is a letter “S” following the style number e.g. Style 16S and Style 17S, it means that the step heights are less than the usual step heights.
